Lois Drive Reconstruction Project

The Municipality of Anchorage (MOA) is planning to upgrade Lois Drive (from West 32nd Avenue to Benson Boulevard). Previously the project included West 32nd Avenue (from Lois Drive to Minnesota Drive), this portion of the project has transitioned to an Anchorage Metropolitan Area Transportation Program (AMATS) funded project. See map below for updated project limits, A Design Study Report Update Memo has been released summarizing the changes from the original project and can be found in Documents & Resources page. This project is a priority for the Spenard Community Council, surrounding facilities, and the adjacent multi-family and residential neighborhoods.

Improvements include:

  • New road foundation
  • New asphalt pavement
  • New storm drain system
  • New non-motorized transportation facilities
  • New curb & gutter
  • Traffic calming
  • Improved street lighting

The MOA has contracted with CRW Engineering Group, Inc. to provide preliminary engineering and design services. The project is funded through the design phase through local road bonds, additional funding will be necessary for construction. The earliest that construction is likely to occur will be in 2026.
